A few months ago I left my well paying yet dreadfully unfulfilling career to pursue something much closer to my core passions. I uprooted my life, left the fun and excitement of the city, returned to my podunk home town and moved in with a dementia ridden family member (whom I care deeply for) rent free. For the time being I'm here loving my new career, paying off all my debt, and forging a brand new "me" centered lifestyle, but my social life has become nearly non-existent. I have the option of going out but many of my friends are either settled into LTR's or marriage and the ones who aren't have vastly different schedules from mine. Bringing a girl home isn't an option not to mention being in my late twenties and not having my own space is really killing my motivation and self esteem. I'm trying to make short term sacrifices in order to make long term gains but this atmosphere feels more oppressive than the weight of responsibility a normal set up would be. Am I doing the right thing? Am I killing my motivation by staying here? Do I hunker down, grit my teeth and weather the storm or try to find a slightly better living situation to foster a more productive mental state?
