make couple eye catching websites as a portfolio and start a profile in freelancers sites and undercut everyone until at least you get some ratings and build your profile, the other option is start approaching local small companies. it won't be easy though.

The tech side is easy, it's the gaining clients part that's not and I really don't have a solution for you. It's a saturated market.

What small business doesn't have a web site already?

I'd approach it from a resdesign perspective. Approach businesses and say I took a look and here's three things you could do to increase your look, hits online and improve uptake. For free. Then with any luck they will hire you to do the changes.

If this is a desperate dream but you've not done any of this shit before, then no. You have a fuckload to learn in a very competitive market, it will take you more than a month to figure out enough to even know what to do.

Hm, complicated market, most people I know revert to template sellers and then invest a small amount for customization (or use the one dude they didnt fire yet). Maybe look for smaller tasks on fiver or something like that?
