The first thing you say in day game should be somewhat dull. She will be impressed that you had the balls to approach and say anything at all. If you say a line, it will come across as corny. Just make some comment about something.

Have a mini conversation. Maybe she will be open to having a little date right there. If not, get the digits so you can continue the convo later.

All your excuses are lame. Just go talk to her.

I was wearing a military uniform, didn't want to do it in uniform. Stupid, but I just feel awkward or like a tool wearing this and approaching girls, thus I never have.

This is completely backwards thinking. Women's attraction to men in uniform is beyond cliche ...use it to your advantage.

That's just the verbal portion the physical is so much more important. The actual approach the body position during talking. The facial expressions during delivery.
