Ask questions. But be honest with yourself -- how good are you with people in general? Some people have such low social IQ & emotional intelligence that they'll try to talk about politics on a date.. which ofc you shouldn't do. Incorporate humour (I tend to use a lot of sarcasm, YMMV). And do a physically active date so conversation doesn't have to be the sole focus.

Learn to be comfortable in silences, for one. Nothing is more annoying than a man who feels the need to keep every dying conversation alive. Conversations need to die, so we can give birth to new ones.

Be relaxed, it’s not a job interview. Talk about what interests you and ask her about things that interest her. If I run out of things to talk about, I will start people watching if we’re out in public. Then I can sit back and comment when I feel like it. If you’re completely out of ideas, suggest that you get out of there and go someplace else...not necessarily your place, but another venue. Just to keep things moving.
