Most depression is a reaction to feeling low in relative social hierarchy. Very few cases of depression are caused by a chemical imbalance; think less than 2%. Even lobsters, a ~400 million year old species with serotonergic neural systems, respond to antidepressants when beaten in a fight by a more dominant lobster.

So start with the basics. Are you healthy? It is good that you go to the gym. Do you avoid unhealthy foods and alcohol? Both are depressants. Do you have friends? Do you have friends you like and respect? If not make an effort to engage more people and get out more. Even striking up a small conversation with cashier or the person next to you at the gym helps. Do you have a job, or are you in school, or possibly working towards some goal? All of these things matter, and each small step counts.

If after all of this, and you are still depressed, then I would seek therapy.

I have struggled with crippling depression since I was 14. (20 now) When I started hanging out with new people ( & self medicating with cannabis) I started to become my normal self. After you have a small social circle you can start branching out and meeting new people, because you have a "home group". You can try out new things with other circles and if you fuck up and do some stupid shit, you have your small circle of friends you can go back to.

It's really about abundance mentality, at least for me. Once you realize you can go talk to anyone and make relationships without anything "bad" happening, you start to gain confidence in your encounters. Once you have abundance mentality, and gain confidence you start to build frame. Once you build frame you can build your game. (at least I hope... that's where I am now)

Go hard and keep moving forward. Shit happens. We're not here forever, and we've got what we got: make the best of it.

Hahaha, nice cut frame. I wanted to fix it to: "Go hard, keep moving forward, and MAKE shit happen." Obviously we slip sometimes but get up and return to step one. Learn from it after the crowd goes home. You can do it (on the grind, baby).

If you're not suffering from clinical depression, it's worth checking out Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It worked for me, it MIGHT work for you too.

The book I'm currently reading is called "Feeling good" by David Burns and I cannot recommend it enough. The author is also RP in a sense that he teaches you stuff like "your anger stems from your thinking" and gives practical exercises to do daily for months.

If you have money issues you can torrent it now and buy it later when you're able to. If you cannot find it, shoot me a PM and I'll link it to you.

I suggest reading Feeling Good by Dr. David Burns amd doing the exercises for at least 3 months.

Try giving the "The Depression Cure" a read. I've suffered from depression on and off for years. This has worked pretty well for me so far although it's too early to tell definitively.

Only other thing I can suggest is meditation, helped me tremendously.
