As you said, 50% of women don't cut it in terms of intelligent conversation and knowledge of the world. Not sure that's gonna help you. College may help, its concentrated smart women who passed entrance exams. Take an evening class in something interesting, see how it goes.

I found my wife there, and she was bright. She was also a borderline, so she's my ex wife now.

coping with loneliness isnt a good thing and it certainly isnt something you should strive for.

Learning to be non-needy on the other hand is important.

in your situation, having a best friend who you can count on to be there for you will take care of the loneliness problem a lot. Once quarantines over, you're going to have to expend some energy and time to meet new people until someone clicks with you

In terms of romantic loneliness, as someone who was in your shoes a decade ago, the emptiness goes away once you know how to get a girl consistently and can do it at any time even after months of being off the dating scene

I really feel you. Loneliness is especially dangerous to melancholic people who then get a depression paired with loneliness. I am like that too, my friend.

The obvious answer to your question is "make something not to be alone". Start a social hobby and meet people who can become your friends or romantic prospects. Go out, be a person who gives value to other people.

I want to offer you an insight now. Maybe you will feel you agree, otherwise you can be sure it's not this direction that you should explore:

Maybe the problem deep down is that you want to be alone? To only have a girlfriend to spend your life with and a one or two good friends. I don't know of any better solutions to this problem yet, however in my current best judgement the best call is to - first - tame this loneliness. Become a master of it. If you spend so much time alone, accept your reality. Maybe it's the internal inconsistency because people have always told you alone=sad and it makes you suffer? Maybe you deep down WANT this state of controlled, extended (by a person, two or three in your life) loneliness?

I don't have all the answers yet but I think the most imporant first step is to know what you really want and either a massive reaction to change or accepting your situation and staying in it on your terms by the means of mastery. Then you either got where you wanted to be or... you got where you wanted to be.

Depends on the underlying cause. Is it worldview alienation, being more sensitive than others? Unaccustomed to the reality? Only you know the answer. The answer becomes the problem to solve. Then you will know what steps to take.

I'm always alienated and I have to blend in aware of their sheettests. Kept my mouth shut and listened well in times I break the sheets to assert respect. I've accepted the loneliness and the only people I talk to are plate materials. John wick is real

Depending on where you are in the world this might be difficult for the time being.

Talk to people from work (maybe even change jobs if its an option for you) just to get you out mixing. Go the supermarket and talk with people there (distanced of course)

After everything settles down, just go do something which people do socially such as dancing, martial arts or maybe a language class. Ive met a few people from dance class and we just went out and did a marathon today. You just dont know until you ask people.
