Take care of yourself like you're your one and only baby, i know you've been hammered down with the "just start lifting Bruh". If you're still hesitating to go to the gym, joining one will be a big step on being more assertive. Once you do that, the rest will fall on their places (like you start meeting like minded people there, you can learn many things from them as they're men takin care of them and know what they're doing)

Visualise the positive outcome, the way this thing can play out positively before you try to be more assertive, this will increase your motivation to be that way as most of us fail to be assertive is because we fear the consequences will be bad.

Say yes to your desires, listen to your body

Learn to say no to people, which means be good at making excuses to get your way (lightly passive aggressive, but offending close friends if you don't have many friends isn't the right option)

Hit the basics, Go small talk with strangers, game girls and basically do some activities which require you to be assertive to win.

Assertiveness is a conversational technique to express your ideas and stand up for yourself.

A good book to read is: The Assertiveness Workbook by Randy J. Paterson, Ph.D. This book will help you understand how to communicate assertively with a foundation based on being self-aware. I am not associated with Randy in any way, but I have had discussion with him about the effectiveness of his book for young learners. I really like the book as a starting point.

You will find that communication techniques require a foundation in emotional maturity specifically Recognition of Self (Self-aware), and Recognition of Others (Empathy). This is because to communicate effectively you must understand yourself and internally reconcile emotions all while being able to reason. To find out more research Emotional Intelligence.

Set boundaries and enforce them.

Be prepared to enforce them by acting aggressive ie calling them out on the spot or even raising your voice and yelling.

Never let anyone cross your boundaries. Be selfish.
