On at least 2 occasions recently, I have been on first dates with girls who seemed cool enough via text, but in person they became completely socially uncalibrated. They would sit there and just talk at me nonstop about boring things like their houses, their travel plans, on and on and on. I could barely get a word in and end up just sitting there nodding, wondering when she'll take a breath for me to engage in the conversation.

On this one date, the girl was nonstop talking at me and then would sip her drink and ask me a random question like, "so where are you from originally?" and I'd answer playfully like, "it's complicated". Usually when I drop a question like that, the girl will recognize that I'm playing and she'll banter back like, "what! how complicated could it be!" or "hahaha what are you like a traveling salesman or something" but this girl just sat there and nodded, unwilling to engage or play with me conversationally.

This isn't ALL bad. For example, I recently had a one-night stand with a cute girl. We got along great over text, but once she had a drink she opened up a LOT and began rambling about the details of her engineering job, how many gallons this machine holds, blahblahblah holy shit it was boring. I was nodding along and interjecting when I could, kino-ing etc but couldn't grab the conversation back and control the frame much.

Like I said, it still "worked out" because we went back to her place and fucked like angry animals but then walking back to my car with me, she went back into autistic mode and I just kept my mouth shut for 10 minutes while she rambled.

Understanding that some people just suck at conversations, how can I move the ball down the field if I am trying to fuck a girl but she is just nonstop rambling about bullshit and I am unable to progress the date in my direction?
