Yes, this is normal. Most people are very self centered and love to talk about themselves.

The people who are best at this will listen to their answers, then tease them for any contradictions in future answers of theirs. Don't be afraid to tell them the occasional funny story that relates to their answer as well, but don't overdo it.

Your best way forward is to ask questions that engage their emotions. Asking them to recall memories of theirs or funny stories is usually a good place to start.

This is just how people are. People like to talk about themselves in most cases. Most people are pretty damn shallow and not very creative. Not being questioned is never a bad thing. If you appear closed off in your body language it could also cause some of this. Arms crossed, looking at them really seriously, not smiling...people will tend to ask you less.

It's also possible you don't bring up topics that intrigue them. If I said "I ate at McDonald's today." You probably wont ask me a lot about it. If I said "I was shot at, at McDonald's today." You will probably ask a few questions.

Unless you are pushing people away I don't think its a bad thing. Maybe you also come across as really stoic/trustworthy, and people naturally open up to you because they don't feel judged.

Share some things about yourself in regards to the topic you created, intermittently, after they have answered, so the conversation is balanced. If you're the one always asking the questions, you may need to consider the quality of the people you're choosing to talk to.

The more women can talk about themselves, the ‘closer’ they’ll feel to you. Let them talk. Don’t try to waste time trying to solve the problems they bring up. These aren’t problems in their eyes and it’s a waste of your energy.

There’s a difference between shyness and disinterest or indifference. Hopefully you can feel them out and see which is which. You don’t have to go super deep into your experiences, but people may think desperation if you don’t have enough ego to share your own experiences. It shows you are important.
