No one seems to have mentioned this yet. But I'd just fucking text her back dude.

It's good to spend time thinking about texts and gaming birds when you're trying to get in their wicks. But you're already in an LTR with this girl. She knows you, she knows your schedule, she knows how often you check your phone and she knows your lunch schedule at work. It's hard to maintain an air of mystery at that point and she'd probably see right through it.

It seems counter productive to be spending time thinking about how often to text her, rather than just texting her.

Listen, I'm not saying to starts ending her essays, and based on the example you gave it all seems like shit talk anyway. But maybe it would be less shit talk if you'd responded to her when you'd actually seen the message.

I think the key to all this is just doing what you want to do dude. If you're busy and you don't have time to text her back, then don't. If you're free and curious what she's got to complain about then text her. The harder you make it for yourself the harder it'll be to keep up for long term

Surprised no one brought this up yet, but one of the main golden rules is NEVER use emojis, not even with your own guy friends. Another trick I remember reading about here that has helped a bit is no question marks or exclamation marks, keeps the messages looking laid back and smooth. Now here is personally how I would have responded, but by no means is it the best. There is always more than one way to skin a cat.

Her: Well not very good.

Me: Oh yeah

Her: Because I waited so long for you to respond.

Me: Ugh, well I was in Africa trying to solve the hunger crisis. Here I'll make it up to you, come over and lets hang out

You only fall into her frame if you acknowledge the issue and sound overly legitimately concerned. Women are emotional beings, you don't want them associating you with too many bad emotions. You need to flip her mood, usually with agree and amplify, or respond with ridiculous banter. Men are too hard wired to "fix" things, women will manipulate that through these kinds of responses.
