The lesson of the day is: do not plan with her any commitment that you don't expect to agree to. It's better to define early which one is your limit (e.g.: I don't do monogamy) and enforce that from day one, than agreeing, or planning to agree, to a commitment then withdrawing it.

It can feel like a punishment, because it is.

Not enough context. If you made plans and are now backing out, then maybe she’s mad because you’re betraying an agreement? I’d be made at my SO too if they pulled something like that.

From her perspective she should probably next you because this appears to be a massive failing of a comfort test that you set up yourself to fail. You made this trap for yourself to fall into. If she doesn’t see a future, if she thinks your relationship is going backwards, she is going to bail unless she’s absolutely desperate. Or she’ll hold onto you until she can tree branch into someone with more future potential.
