Sooner or later you’ll have to tell your old man. I can’t guarantee you’ll hate your construction job, but the feeling of letting your father down, coupled with working a strenuous job, should be enough to motivate you to not fail next year.

You could lie about it and hope to get away with it, but I wouldn’t for two reasons. Firstly, it takes a lot of time and mental energy to lie and you’ll have a lot of explaining to do. Secondly, the consequences are dire if you fold and your reputation may never recover.

It takes a lot of courage to admit that you fucked up and you need support. Focus and internalise how shit the construction job will be and think about how nice it would be to sit at a desk solving problems. Best of luck, let me know if you have any other questions.

I was in a similar situation. I never got kicked out but I was barely scraping by. In my case, I just wasn't mature enough to handle the workload of engineering. Take the time off to reflect on the reason you failed out twice. Hopefully, you come up with something better than "engineering is hard".

If I got kicked, I would give it another shot because long term its gonna not be easy.

Just try to start from year 0 and try to fix your mistakes.

Own your mistakes, and say you'll repeat the year with his or without his help. Thats just responsibility, man.

You need to figure out if you want to be an engineer... Going twice and getting kicked out twice because of grades is probably where you should start.

I thought I wanted to be a medical doctor when I got to college, figured out it was a lot more science and b.s. weed out type classes to get to med school than I was willing to do, and I didn't enjoy the process. I found a job and major that I enjoyed and have no regrets at all, not to mention no six figure debt.

I don't know your dad, but you should tell him. He probably has gone through some tough times as well and can probably relate. If he is a good leader he will understand and help guide you.
