Some guys say that claiming "you suddenly reconnected with a past ex" helps, because the plate takes it with more resignation for some reason.

What works for me everytime though is the gradual fade, give her fewer and fewer hours each new week, until it's once every 2, then every 3 weeks that you see the girl. They're not stupid, they get it, and that way there's no need to burn any bridges in a big way.

Who knows in a year or five, you may see her somewhere, and be down to fuck, and so may she...

Yeah gradual fade. Be "busy", don't text them, don't respond too much.

I just did this last week.

Stop calling her. Don't answer when she calls. Don't answer her texts emails.

Best way to implement that is by blocking her #, email, and unfriend from social media.

Why are you afraid of how she might react? Let her react however she wants. To let your fear of her actions control your behavior is weak.

Cut all contact with her. You don't owe her anything. Not your attention, not an explanation, and certainly not a chance to worm herself back into a relationship that you're no longer interested in.
