Nothing wrong with a next day "had fun" message, but tie it to setting up the next encounter "...let's plan to do it again, later next week."

...have a reason for texting, beyond trying to make her smile.

You can compliment the date, NOT her.

"That was a cool date. We're going to do it again."

Note the statement in the second sentence. That's the way to approach all dates. State 'em, NEVER ask for them.

Don't you dare supplicate her.

Merely asking her out again will give all the implication that you enjoyed your date that you want to give. Don't give an ounce more.

Go with your gut.

You know what she is like personally. If she really is insecure you might be pushing her away by not making any post date contact . Keep the text short and simple, not a wall of text.
