So I've been working as a dishwasher for almost a month now at a restaurant. The entire kitchen staff consists of 2 cooks and me. I do light prep work, clean, but mainly wash dishes. Mid November I swallowed trp.

Some examples:

  1. Yesterday I was washing dishes and a server brought dishes that the servers are supposed to wash themselves (I wash only the utensils, pots, pans, etc. that cooks use). She said, "I brought you some more". I responded, "Oh are these gifts?" She said, "Yeah! Happy New Years!" (rolling eyes) I said, "Cool, thanks.” I didn't do them as it is not my responsibility but for all she knows I did. Right afterwards I thought I could've said, "Since I'm such a nice person I'm going to gift these back to you."

  2. The next day the same server asked me out of nowhere, "Why did you take this job?" I really didn't know what to say as I took it only because I needed the money as I looked for a better job (which I found and plan on putting my 2 week notice in in a few days). I replied, "It was closeby." she followed up with, "So what do you do outside of work?" I replied, "I work out, skateboard, what do you do?" She said, "I work out too." I asked her when was the last time she worked out and she said December. I joked about how she wasn't consistent and that she needs to work out more and to stop doing machine exercises and all you need is a barbell and weights.

  3. One of the servers asked the cook and I (the cook is an older black guy), "Why do guys cheat and have either of you ever cheated?" I said I plead the 5th and she asked me why did I and I told her that I didn't say that I did or didn't. Unfortunately later on I cracked after her and s and I implied that I wouldn't cheat on a girlfriend. I can't remember the exact words I used. I didn't want to say that I've never cheated because that would be converting to her frame? Correct? The older cook went on about how he would never cheat on a girl and that two people have to be honest with eachother but before he married he "went on tour"... Later on the cook was saying how he thought it was a trick question and I told him that's why I don't answer that kind of shit.

  4. After I just got done mopping the floors one of the servers came in, looked at me as if she knew she was doing something wrong like a kid who got caught, and I said, "What's you name again?" she told me. I said, "If Bob comes in tomorrow and asks me why the floors look like shit I'm going to tell him that it was all you. Haha." She apologized and said she didn't realize I just mopped them.

A problem I'm having is... I think of good stuff to say shortly afterwards. It's difficult for my mind to work so fast to come out with solid replies on the spot. I'm not talkative at work besides greeting coworkers and asking how are you doing, etc, small talk. Honestly don't really care to talk to them but when they shit test me I'm pretty relaxed and they catch me off guard so I have to think quick. I never show that I am bothered though. So shit test passed as long as I never get angry or show that I'm fazed?
