Leather oxfords or bluchers. Start with two pair, one light brown (walnut) and one dark brown ("chili"). I'm a huge fan of Allen Edmonds.

The Strand in walnut and the St. John (double monk) in chili are both really versatile; I wear mine with jeans, chinos, even suits. If you can only afford one, get the Strand in chili.

For boots, Wolverine 1k Mile. Get real ones, don't fall for Thursday Boots' amazing photography.

Get belts that match each pair of shoes, and learn how to polish.

Vans style. Nice pair of athletic shoes. It depends on who u are.

Dont be a nerd wearing jordans, and dont be a thug wearing dress shoes. Find a style that YOU like. Never dress for someone else, always for yourself.

dress boots. not like cowboy boots, get some nice looking wingtip or captoe lace up boots or chelsea boots. basically a tall boot version of the dress shoes you would wear with a suit. there's a million different options so just find something that you like that fits in your budget. if you don't get anything too crazy and keep them in good shape they can work well with anything you should be wearing at a bar or restaurant from jeans to a suit.

For shoes, I like the Nike Air Max 90 2.0 and Adidas Tubular Shadow, both in all black. They look really good and they give you an extra inch or so in height.

For boots, Oakstreet Bookmakers dainite trench in black or a cheaper version would be the Wolverine 1k Miles (I prefer the Evans over the regular ones).

But a men's fashion magazine;
Pick a style that fits your frame (bear in mind some take more effort to keep sharp than others);
Get the adequate shoes.

I'll use hiking boots if the climate allows it (they last forever) or something we call "sapatenis" (casual shoes, always low and made with leather) that don't last half a year. They both fit me and my frame pretty well.

I bought these a few weeks ago and they are fast becoming my favorite footwear.

They are Doc Martens boots. Ankle length, almost a chukka. Flexible sole and lightweight. I've gotten comments on them several times, which is startling because I didn't think most people paid much attention to shoes.

Journeys shoes had them. I believe they were $74.
