The biggest thing to learn about going off to college at an 18-year-old freshman is that it's now ON YOU.

There will be nobody there to dynamite you out of bed and make you go to class. The prof won't really care if you're there or not for the lecture. If you don't show, it's on you.

The only person who will tell you to eat right and get enough exercise will be YOU.

The only person to tell you not to drink that fifth beer will be YOU.

And if you wash out, don't finish, or flunk, it will be ON YOU.

Make mindful decisions. Accept the consequences.

Oh, and most of what you will learn (aside from the classics) will be obsolete before the ink dries on your diploma. The most valuable asset you will take away from your uni experience will be your network of contacts.

MEET PEOPLE. Especially men. Make FRIENDS. Meet their FAMILIES.

Why? Because the DAD'S of the men you meet will own companies or be in middle management in companies that may HIRE you when you get out of Uni.

You need to become the guy who knows a guy. Make CONNECTIONS.

First off go to fucking class. Every class. All the classes. And take notes. And be prepared to learn. Sure you can go to class half awake and hungover and sleepy through 9 slides because you can read them later....but don't. Secondly do everything. Join a club or two, play an intramural sport, go to the study session, go to every party you can, every opportunity you have to do something just do it.

Don’t let professors influence your political opinions and life choices.
If you walk out of school with student debt, you’re probably an idiot. Don’t buy a brand new car. Don’t get a useless degree. Avoid feminists.

Study and lift.

Don’t let school get in the way of an education.

Explore greek life! My three best friends happen to be my fraternity brothers. . I’m so grateful for them, and I know we will be a part of one another’s life for the rest of this lifetime. Not to mention all the women you’ll meet!

Set your four your plan. . A roadmap will ensure that you get the most out of your education. Want to double major? Plan it out. Three majors? You know what to do.

Set a goal of meeting one new person a day. . Did this my freshman year, and by junior year I knew everyone on campus and was elected the student body president - managing a $400,000 budget, and leading a team of 9 individuals.

Use your professors’ office hours!! They will be so happy that you are interested in learning, and it will help you so much in times of need.

Study abroad if you have the time. . Didn’t have the time myself due to pursuing three majors and being the student body president. . BUT I did set myself up to get my graduate degree abroad.

Start thinking about what you want to do after graduation, so that you can ensure you’re prepared. Graduate school? You’ll have studied for and taken all necessary tests, and began application process early enough.

Internships! Go to career development and ask them about alumni connections and internship opportunities. If you can do one internship each summer, your resume will put you well above the candidate pool upon graduation. Plus you’ll have an idea of what you like and don’t like.

Study. . Nobody can take away the knowledge you learn.

Join a frat and also another club club/org so you aren’t one dimensional extra curricular-wise. Lift, and go to class. Don’t care if you’re tired/hungover. Going to class and sitting up front might seem nerdy or whatever but honestly you’ll be able to get a halfway decent grade just doing that. Oh yeah and get 1 or 2 internships. Besides that party moderately and have fun. You’ll crush it

Figure out if college will actually make you more money. If you are studying anything other than Law/Medicine/Engineering/Accounting, you are wasting your time/money.

Avoid going to college, it is a cultural device to make you an early slave to the banking system. Job ares not around like 20 years ago, neither is employer loyalty.
