TL;DR at the bottom.

Yesterday evening I called a girl I'm thinking about being exclusive with. During the mandatory self-isolation period due to the 'rona, I naturally followed the RP-rules of long-distance communication (almost no texting, phone calls three times a week MAX, let her engage first, be the one who ends the call, etc...). I also let her do most of the talking, because listening to her voice relaxes me and I usually concentrate on other things while we talk.

Yesterday, she once more told me we should break the quarantine and meet up. I explained to her that that wouldn't happen as I don't want to put my family members at risk and also don't want to pay a multi-thousand euro fine if we get caught outside. She started contemplating about the risk of the virus and asked me about my opinion, which I then elaborated on.

What I essentially told her was that I don't really think the virus poses a threat to society, but much more how the governments' measures seem over-the-top and authoritarian. I didn't really go into detail (avoid politics) but I cited some of the current developments that have me worried (the not clarified duration of the curfews; telecom companies soon handing over GPS data to the government to "track infected"). Nothing too dystopian, right?

Well, she seems to have gotten hit pretty hard by this. She was very silent and I think she started crying, she also told me she's afraid, to which I responded that everything's gonna be ok. I didn't pay much attention to it and got on with reading the news and occasionally making a snarky comment about a headline. Shortly after, she ended the call, because she wanted to go to bed.

Two questions: Why did she get so upset about this? I'd get it if I told her horror stories or dystopian nightmares, but it was merely my superficial thoughts about the situation. I also talked for two minutes only, at most. Second, did I react appropriately?

TL;DR: Talked to a girl on the phone, she asks me about my opinion about the 'rona, I tell her I'm concerned about the virus enabling authoritarians, she cries, I ignore mostly it, we end the call later. What does this mean, how should I have reacted, am I retarded?
