Girl bangs a bunch of game journalists, and in exchange gets promotion for her text game. Boyfriend finds out, gets mad and publishes story on the internet. Shitstorm blows up across numerous forums.
Girl posts her own info on tumblr then says she's been "hacked", claims death threats, etc. Usual attempt at playing the victim to try get shit to die down. Meanwhile, mainstream gaming media explodes in fury talking about how evil and misogynistic gamers are. Posts on the subject are shut down everywhere. Any mention of the story anywhere is ding dong bannu.
High profile people across gaming media are discovered to be in cahoots with each other and have a mailing list where they co-ordinate a response; those who dissent are shut-out.

On the one hand you have gamers not happy that their games have been co-opted by SJWs and feminists into the shit modern games are (beta devs cowtowing to SJWs for the promise of sex and influence), and on the other you have the usual claims of death threats and misogyny from the SJWs.

I've mostly avoided it, but something like:

"game" developer sleeps around with multiple game reviewers (and her boss). Her husband tattles to the whole internet.
"game" dev happens to be a girl, so white knights come out in force and completely censor the story out of existence. Reddit, 4chan, everywhere. Honestly chilling to see this scale of censorship on these kinds of sites.
Feminists try to make it all about misogyny and themselves while furiously white knighting on behalf of the dev & reviewers with glaring conflict of interest.
Internet gets mad, some dumbass(es) doxx and send death threats to feminists.

-SJWs use this to accuse everyone ever involved in #gg of also supporting death threats. (No one has come out in support of deaththreats, obviously)

Idiotic sjw feminists keep #gg in the news perpetually by angrily circlejerking their outrage boners into a tornado of sjw-fury.

Good luck trying to have any kind of meaningful discourse about this shitstorm.

It's not really about a slut riding the CC and a beta getting mad. That happens every day all around the world. The issue is that when she was called out on her behavior the white knights tried to change the issue into a "all men are rapists" issue. It was epic hamstering supported by white knights in position of authority in the industry.

GG is something that introduced me to TRP and helped me finally find the key to understanding life, women and everything. I'm grateful to them for it. They don't like TRP though :P

PS: The issue they uncovered is that SJWs occupy gamer media and thus gamer media, instead of writing about games, writes about rape, misoginy, female objectification, sexism, how white-straight-males have it easier than others, how games are sick for having manly main characters and sexy female sidekicks, and so on... yeah and game media called gamers "sexist misohynist nerds" and refuses to apologise. And gamers are pissed off at it.

When it really gets down to it. Some game developer rode the CC, mounting a load of guys in her industry. This, and her persuasion, led to her shitty games getting all over the place.

People found out, shouted at her, and the people she mounted. Her, the people she mounted, her friends, and basically anyone with internet access and a vagina (or white-knight complex) said that all gamers are women-hating freaks just waiting for a chance to rape. That's how it has continued on, pretty much.

She is a loose woman, who wrote about females being objectified and under appreciated and blah blah blah hamster type thoughts.

The whole time she is saying all this bullshit, she's out being what she claims to hate.

Que all the betas who never got their deserved sex and are mad.

Que all the white knights who want to support her and how she was objectified.

Bottom line, Gamergate is stupid and should be ignored. She is not a goo writer, or game developer in the first place, she has tits and is far better looking than most nerd girls, hence all the attention.
