When you marry a woman, your marriage functions as divorce insurance. If you get divorced, you agree to give her half of everything you earned during the marriage, and in many cases a chunk of what you earned before and earn after to help support her and any children you had. Plus while you're married to her, she is an equal owner in everything you earn. She can spend and consume whatever she wants of your property.

And you know what? On its own, this maybe wouldn't be that bad. Marriage is a joint undertaking so she should get some of the joint property if things go wrong, and should be able to access the joint property during the marriage, right? That makes sense...until we ask the key question: What do you get in return for giving these property rights to a woman?

Absolutely nothing. She doesn't have to do -anything- to get access to your property during marriage and a share of at least 50% of your property during divorce. You promise her all of this and in exchange she gives you...nothing.

She -might- have sex with you and -might- have children with you. But she doesn't have to. In fact, she can have sex with other guys and have their children. Doesn't matter. She still gets your property.

She -might- get a job of her own and she -might- bring income into the home. But she doesn't have to. In fact, if she doesn't work and make money, she gets even more money from you in the event of divorce.

She -might- cook, clean, help around the house, and be a good child caretaker. But she doesn't have to. That's entirely up to her. It's not required.

She -might- be good to you and treat you with kindness and respect. Maybe. But she doesn't have to. She can be a total bitch if she wants.

You are giving her and promising her all of this in exchange for the chance that maybe, just maybe, she -might- have sex with you, be kind to you, be helpful around the house, and so on. But none of this is required of her. It is entirely her discretion whether she is a good wife or not.

Her getting your property is 100% required - courts will force you to pay her off. Her doing anything for you is 0% required - 100% at her sole discretion.

And once you're married, she can divorce you at any time, for any reason she wants or no reason at all. Hell, she can be cheating on you, file divorce papers, and she -still- gets your property.

And you want to tell me "Well, what if she's a quality woman? Then she won't do all that!"

You are -legally required- to promise her access to your property in exchange for a -chance- that she decides, at her sole discretion, to be a "quality woman" for you. It's completely optional on her part. Do you really want to bet the farm - literally, bet and lose your entire farm - on the statement, "It'll be okay. She's a 'quality woman!'"

Why not just enjoy an LTR without getting the courts involved in it? What benefit do you gain?

Marriage is a legally binding contract. It has nothing to do with love, and certainly has nothing to do with lifelong intention to live and raise a family together.

If you're not married:
You can have children together.
You can own a home together.
You can live together.
You can make life-and-death decisions for each other with power-of-attorney.

Do you know what you can't do if you're not married? You can't have the person you're with break up with you and then take half of all your money and half of all your future earnings, with the full power of the government to back her up.

There's nothing positive that you can do while married that you can't do while unmarried.

I was married for 9 years. The first several years were great, but the last two, and the years since, not so much. I came out ahead, relatively speaking. I kept the house. I pay no alimony, though I do pay some child support. And I still wish I hadn't ever been married. I would have the same parental rights that I have now, if I had never been married.

I made a promise, so did she. She broke that promise, and I was the one the worse off for it.

It’s ok if you find disgusting sleeping with a lot of women, but you can have a couple of different LTRs to find what you like and what you don’t. I’m not telling you to do it with sluts nor doing it with 100 girls, but with cautiously selected girls who are LTR material.

A mentality of ‘’If she is a virgin i will be happy with her all my life’’ is extremely risky, because in the end when you marry her, she might not be the type of girl you expected, thus making YOU unhappy.

Who knows maybe the sex will be boring, she might get extremely fat. She might be loyal through all the marriage, but you won’t be as happy as you thought you would be.
