I always try to set up something in the evening unless you want to decrease your chances of something happening. The best is when she agrees to meet at 9 pm (drinks downtown), because it'll be late quicker and that's when sexy stuff tends to happen. 7 pm is safer, since that can mean dinner & exit.

Grabbing a bite in the afternoon is pretty much guaranteed that nothing will happen, you'll be lucky if you manage to get a kiss out of it during daylight.

Also, doing completely weird and fun activities is another recommendation. Go-karting, trampoline jumping, that sort of stuff. I'm 37 btw.

Go somewhere super super casual. Like a food truck, or grab some sushi and take it into a park. I usually hate going anywhere to sit down at a table and look at menus. I usually don't go anywhere to eat, just meet at garden or at coffee shop.

The only reason to meet somewhere other than my place is if the girl feels too uncomfortable with that, so meeting up outside is just a token gesture to help her feel comfortable. So somewhere fun and casual helps this.

Go multiple places. It feels like multiple dates to her and increases the chances of a close.

Grab a bite to eat at a place that's relatively close to your place. Screen her there for an hour or so and then lead her to a nearby bar for drinks. Depending on how receptive she's been thus far, suggest that you head back to your place for drinks and to show her your butterfly collection (or whatever interesting thing you have at your place). Be sure to have a bottle of wine in your fridge before hand and also don't forget to do kino in both venues.

Brunch. It will give you a chance to chat. Make sure you keep noticing any cute waitress or cute girl will comes in, excuse yourself often your are a busy man, and oh do make sure to let her know that she's cute or you would never have shown up.

Ask her how much money she makes and look bored.
