It only takes a few generations for human beings to forget their collective experiences. Unlearning is pretty fashionable. The idea that whichever flavor of government you happen to be born to have most likely systematically broken down all of the social and educational institutions that would otherwise try and remind you of the folly of the previous generations squabbles and conceits.

Your parent's movement got co-opted to sell t-shirts, and your's will too; If it hasn't already happened. Nowadays we trim the ideology out of it, take the carcass, and embroider it onto a purple sweater. What the hell do you know about "peace and love"? Odds are the girl outside of a Forever 21 doesn't give a shit about that, Timothy Leary, or the reason why her jewel-encrusted "flower power" side pouch even exists.

Gen Z's, like Millennials and Gen X'S, are facing the bulk of this educational de-emphasis. Or, as someone else put it, "this advertising holocaust." We have no identity, nor do we have the will to be citizens. That's the best-case scenario. Disenfranchised, nationless, and economically shafted. Counting packaged noodles, while we pay back our student loans, and throw whatever salaried remains we have left into housing.

I think, no matter how you spin it, someone, or some group with immense power, will find it in their best interest to try and exploit you. And to an extent, they'll succeed. When the battered have had enough, it'll spillover into some new movement.

I'm only kidding. I have no idea why things happen.
