Because, for the most part, we evolved to be optimised for a hunter-gatherer existence, where large, muscular men were able to feed her, feed their children, protect them from predators and other humans, and would produce children better able to do these things for themselves as they grew up.

This is less of a question to ask us and more of a self-evident thing. Most female mammals prefer strong mates, end of story. Same applies to humans. Only we can substitute money and/or power (I'm talking tens of millions and up when it comes to money. Money makes women wetter than anything except power, which is so strong an aphrodisiac even men become intoxicated by their own power) if we can which is rare but exclusive to humans.

Muscles are the male equivalent of curves on women. Women are attracted to the shape and size of them just like a man is attracted to the shape and size of a woman’s ass or tits. It’s just more aesthetically appealing than being skinny or fat.

Because they are fat, or are out of shape and hope/think muscular big men can toss their heavy ass around the bedroom or/and they can look skinny/small next to a bigger man on photos. Its a social norm in our time, everyone is going to the gym apparently.
