Why does the manosphere care so much about gamergate?

the big deal is that the gaming community were seen as fringe, the forgotten dregs of society. now that its the biggest entertainment medium on the planet women are coming in demanding changes to gaming content. not only that but they want "hetronormative" depictions of anything eliminated and replaced by gender bending queer loving stories. its also the annoyance of the hypocrisy by the feminists, its women who are preciously offended by the content produced by men and instead of going and producing their own work and supplying a new market they have to use their disproportionate political sway to influence publishers to change the content of the media being produced. the feminists have no creative capacity themselves they can only criticise on nonsensical grounds, furthermore the political clout of the feminists will lead to feminist ideology becoming government policy, regulating the gaming industry to protect delicate feminist sensibilities since women vote to what they believe is the consensus (fuck reality and logic). gamergate is a big big deal.

I think there's a couple parts of this.

Revenge porn. This is the scenario that a lot of guys wish they had, whereas some girl just screwed them over and quietly faded away. Some public "I have conclusive truth you were cheating of me, fuck you" is cathartic and brings in a lot of fans.

Guys are protective of video games. As sealteamaus said here, we've basically been ostracized and criticized for being into video games, and then have seen women come in and try to change or criticize the medium without necessarily having a basis.

The media corruption. It isn't a minor issue to suspect that journalists who you want to trust for 'news' are being paid or traded sex for good reviews. It's a hot-button issue already with how murky reviews are and how easy it is to create moral ambiguity when video game sites are serving ads for video games.

It's a very textbook red pill awakening that hit it big. People find it easy to use this as an example.

The censorship. The whole Streisand effect. Gaming had a thread with 25K posts all deleted? Places like Kotaku were deleting every mention of it. I swear this would have completely blown over if not for people getting uppity that mods were strangely trying to remove it. This fed the paranoia and conspiracy, because there's really nothing in it for them unless they are super white-knighting and trying to make sure no one thinks bad of a woman. It was really crazy to get insights into forum mods contacting her, I guess to offer to delete everything, and to wonder why 3rd party sites would bother doing that.

Never before so many men stood up for their male opinions against feminism. Gamergate proved that there is a line feminism should not cross.

Seeing this appear instinctively to a BP centered society without any form of organization was a breath of fresh air for any long term RP lurker.

The big deal is that is a push back against feminism. A big push back. And it redpilled (not necessarily in the reddit sence, but in the /pol/ sence) a lot of people.

The shirtgate pushback is in part the doing of GamerGate.

What roosh and RoK can see is there is a lot to be learned from gamers and that their previous outlook at what gamers are is wrong. Milo (writer for Breitbart) and Mike Cernovitch (dangerandplay) and voxday (alphagameblogspot) are seeing the same. Even the tea party in America is seeing what is going on and will learn from it how to reach voters.

There is a ton of potential in gamers which doesn't just offer fresh blood for the manosphere but also a whole lot of tactics and intelligence on how to push back feminism.

If you think it is just some minor controversy at the outskirts of society you need to take a step back and judge it from a distance. It is a lot bigger, even bigger then many of the liberals and blue pills in GamerGate realize.

Gamergate, itself wasn't that special. But it demonstrated that the most unimpressive men out there are still men, deep down inside. The last people on earth you'd expect to stand up to mean women did so.
