Is this something you're told often in the workplace? "You're condescending." I get this from subordinate female coworkers (and only them) on an often enough basis to no longer be surprised by it. Is this the new normal? Because I don't hold them as lower (other than in rank) or lesser. But it seems like women today are very sensitive to seeing a man who knows more than they do.

Background: I work on a small team as the only man. I'm 46, been in my field for 22 years, have degrees and credentials. Not quite a manager, but paid like one and sort of treated like one without being one. (Think staff officer instead of direct superior/line officer.) Coworkers are all ladies 21-35, emotionally volatile and not moving up anytime soon.

Is this just... jealousy? Women in the workplace? The repercussions of treating someone who doesn't know much like they don't know much and working within their knowledge (not their capability) limitations? Because like I've said, I've never had issues with a) anybody above me, male or female, or b) male subordinates. It's only younger, cubicle-grade subordinate women.

If it was all women, I'd chalk it up to being a bit Aspy. Am I off target here?
