(Reddit removed the post for some reason last night)

Over the years of trying to get more matches on Tinder, I've done a lot of research such as learning the Tinder algorithm. What is that you might ask? It's the process of dividing users into a score category, known as an elo score. Your elo score determines how many possible matches you'll obtain while you're on Tinder.

How to use this guide

You should use these types of things as a template. NOT COPY & PASTE. Much like taking notes from a lecture, summarize the information, and make it suit your particular approach or style.

Understand the algorithm

When tinder puts our profiles in order they put people with a higher elo score up to the front of the line. Your elo score is calculated by many factors:

  • How many people swipe right on you
  • How many people you communicate with
  • The score of the couple you match up withWhen you first start a new account your elo score is unknown. Since you have an unknown score you get what's called a "noob boost". This boost prioritizes you along with the users who've bought boost, as well as users with high elo scores.

improve your elo score and profile

Many tinder users go through the same thing when they have a new account. They get plenty of matches, and over time they get less and less matches. This is caused by the lowering of your elo score. In short use, higher quality pictures, but try to be as intricate as possible.

NOTICE: It's very important to make a new Facebook account when you make a new tinder account. When you delete your tinder account to make a new one, your previous login token doesn't let you make a fresh account. Thus, leading to you not being able to get the "noob boost/". So it's just better to completely start a band new Facebook account from scratch.

Taking good pictures and choosing good pictures

  • SMILE IN YOUR PICTURES. You want to come off as kind and approachable, which is what smiling projects. Smiling will make you 14% more likely to get a right swipe.
  • Look adventurous and show off your hobbies, sports you play. No one wants to seem boring, add pictures from vacations and you out doing things with friends/family
  • High quality photos. Make sure your face can be seen clearly and that the picture isn't fuzzy
  • Dog/animal in your pic. Girls love animals especially dogs.
  • The right group picture. When choosing a group picture find one that you can be easily recognized in (not everyone matching or a lot of people in it) this picture is to show you aren't a loser or creep. make sure you're not on the end or not the least attractive person in the picture. If it helps blur out everyone's faces.
  • Formal pictures. Girls love a well groomed guy in a suit.

Very good source for examples: https://youtu.be/YXcA05i2kqw?t=50s

When putting pictures in order the group picture should be last, (so they are sure of what you look like by then) and make sure your best picture is first.

Don'ts: Selfies (gym, shirtless and snapchat filtered one included), Holding bottles, with lots of women, heavily cropped, looking away from the camera, blurry and out of focus, Overly filtered and heavily photo-shopped

I highly recommend taking up to date pictures when you're well groomed. Get a friend with a good camera to take some pictures of you while you're out and make sure they don't look staged or forced.

Making a good bio

Yes everyone knows Tinder is mostly about appearances, but your bio is still very important. DO NO LEAVE IT BLANK

Do your best to make it short and simple. Try your best to make it interesting/funny.

Basic bio: add 3 simple things about you and what you like.

Sample: I love good music, and good times. One time I asked the notorious "deez nuts" guy for a picture, he said no but at least I found out he's an asshole. Voted best guy to ever meet your mom by literally everyone's mom.

Natural-born writer with a love of cheesy B-movies. Successfully pretending to be an adult; yeah, I’m gainfully employed, but I spend most of my meetings thinking about Batman.

Simple and funny bio: come up with funny one liners and/or smartass comment.

Sample: Funny, handsome, and stupid

Dogs love me

I hear you like bad boys. I’m bad at everything

When I was young, girls didn't like it when I pulled their hair... Funny how things change.

List your likes bio: simply list things you like and hobbies

Sample: EDM, Coffee, Travel Enthusiast, Cryptocurrency trade

Donts: no no to list personal facts (age, name and distance are already listed) no super long and wordy bios (shouldn't take you longer than 2 minutes to write a bio)

Advanced Tips

Profile review: if you follow all these steps and still don't think your profile is good go over to r/Tinder and participate in their weekly profile review. Don't want strangers to critique you? Ask friends to help with picking pictures and making a bio. No friends? use photofeeler.com to help pick good pictures.

If you can't make up a good bio just steal one (this isn't great advice, but whatever) look over at r/Tinder to get inspiration. Switch up a the bio a little bit. Do you best to not use one that's been used 100 times.

Make power point tinder profile to get a extremely high elo score

Conclusion

The best tip I can possibly give you for setting up your profile for any dating site is just be creative, honest, and up front. The cornier, goofier, and funnier you appear to be, the more successful you'll become. It's about making yourself stand out above the rest of the competition. In conclusion, it's a numbers game. Better results will come with the more matches you manage to accumulate. May the odds forever be in your favor reddit users.
