AA on the dancefloor?

You deal with AA by just getting over it. Try peacocking up a little more, I find it seems easier to go out of comfort zone if you already look ridiculous. Approach ugly girls, hot girls, girls dancing with guys... approach everyone and make a scene. My favorite thing to do is to move people back, create a circle of space on the dance floor, then jump in the middle and do the most ridiculous dance that comes into your head. From there pull any girls watching you from the edge of the circle to dance with (or pull them into the circle so that they can show their best dance moves :) ). All this aside, I find it most effective to open a girl off the dance floor, grab her hand and say "lets dance", as opposed to trying to start dancing with an already dancing girl.

I felt the same way. I felt that dancing was ridiculous even when drunk. But then I picked up some salsa classes, and I absolutely love it now.

Like with any other form of AA, by putting yourself in a situation that causes it. Start small, and chat up some guys or girls that you are not at all interested in. Give them some high fives, shout some "woooos" or whatever is accepted in the club you are. Then move to attractive girls but only with the intention to make them smile, give them high five and if AA is overwhelimng eject by just moving away, rinse and repeat. After practice you will be able to open girls you are interested in but you most likely be anxious and will get shot down few good times, the next step is AA free approaches on the dance floor. This method works for any anxiety. BTW start working out if you haven't yet. lowering cortisol reduces anxiety feeling by a LOT.

Remember a couple of points:

-No one is watching you! Look around, and notice that the majority of people are nervously bobbing their head to the music. They're too wrapped up in their own insecurities to judge you.

-Be playful. Get in front of her and tease her about her dancing.

If that's too scary, then just get near her. If she bumps into you, pretend your hurt and say "you owe me a dance" playfully. Works every time.

-Don't forget to BREATHE! From the stomach, not the chest.
