I've always said the opposite (e.g for me, direct in the day and indirect at night makes more sense to me)

I think you kind of need to go direct in the day so she knows why the hell you stopped her/approached her. Especially since in some places like lots of Europe, talking to strangers isn't remotely normal like maybe it is in the US

And in bars and stuff girls already assume you're trying to get in their pants the second you say 'hi', and plus it's more of a social environment and so yeah, indirect makes sense to me

Having said all of that, it's kind of splitting hairs. At the end of the day, you could argue that going direct at night is also ideal since in reality, she knows why you are speaking to her and more importantly she's basically made her mind up as to whether she's attracted to you before you've even delivered the opener! And so you'd not risk wasting lots of time on a friendly, social, chatty girl who actually isn't remotely attracted to you and never will be. e.g if a girl isn't at all attracted to you and you're not her type, going 'indirect' isn't gonna magically make her wanna bang you if you were a clear 'no' to her when she looked up as you opened

It's the opposite.

Women are far more defensive and guarded in the nightclub because almost every guy there is acting like a predator, waiting for an innocent pray to hit on. Women will quickly act more arrogant, dismissive in an evnironemnt like the club where here ego is through the roof due to all the male attention competing for her.

In the day people don't expect to be approached, which makes them more relaxed and natural. If someone approaches them, two thigns will usually happen either they tell you they are in a rush/have a boyfriend but that they are flattered, or they are flattered and actually stop to give you attention. Most reactions will be friendly in daytime. Whereas in a nightclub they are more likely to be aggresive when they turn you down.

At night people expect to be approached and socialize so you can go in indirect with situational openers which are the best.

During the day people are busy and usually doing something or headed somewhere. You need to provide context to why you are talking to them really fast so usually you have to be direct and show intent.
