I posted yesterday. I've gotten a ton of responses (both public replies and private PMs). I've added puaCurveBall and testmypatience as mods to help us "clean up" seddit and get the sidebar looking better. If anyone disagrees with my choices, that's fine, and we can discuss it, but these guys wanted to help out and they both have good track records. I also wouldn't mind adding a few more mods.

The main stuff I keep seeing:

Some people think AskSeddit should be bigger and get more participation from experienced guys. I'll admit, I haven't really been there too often in the past few weeks or so. That's what happens with small subreddits. Other people think askseddit should be terminated and the typical askseddit posts should come here. I'd actually agree with that, to an extent, but the fact remains that a majority of what I'm seeing is that most guys don't want to be filing through "crappy" posts to get to the good ones. This is why AskSeddit was created, and for now, I think it should stay. I also think there needs to be more involvement over there. We'll try to fix up the sidebar to make AskSeddit more prominent, and we'll try to fix up the sidebar in other ways as well. All recommendations are welcome.

As far as the "Seddit Coaching" goes, I think anyone with a brain can see that these guys weren't trying to "commercialize" seddit. I know ImKumarYo and heckz simply wanted to offer people an in-field "bootcamp" experience, and I don't see any issue with that. They only advertised it once, and they're leaving it open for individual sedditors to decide if they'd like to do something like that. MaysonNSS was already a dating coach, and he was already providing free advice/discussion here. He had linked to his site plenty of times in the past, and I never saw anybody chastise him for it. Likewise, afungi teamed up with Mayson to do some free radio shit. If any of these guys want to make money by providing more of their time and more personalized advice, more power to them. They haven't "commercialized" seddit, by any means. At the same time though, I think that link in the sidebar should be moved down, and the other link to 100sets should be moved down. AskSeddit and/or the NEW HERE? links should be at the top, and should be prominently displayed. If you guys agree, just let me know in the comments. If you disagree, also feel free to let me know.

I've looked over the other shit in the sidebar and I really don't feel like much of it should be changed. The Interview Series is important to have because newbies can see how we've gotten some good discussions with well-known guys. The lairs are important because some of them are semi-active and we should always provide opportunities for people to get in touch and meet up. Everything else on there looks fine to me- some things can be modified, but I wouldn't want to change too much. Again, let me know how you feel about it.

As far as other things are concerned, the mods will discuss "tagging" and see if that's a good idea- so you can see who generally gives good advice. It'll be extremely difficult to determine how to pick out various people, and in the end, it'll probably be left up to us- I personally wouldn't base it on FRs because I don't even have any FRs myself, and I wouldn't want to hold other people to that standard. It'll probably be based on the general quality of advice, and realistically, a bunch of people will be left out. As long as everyone's cool with that, we can do that. I still gotta talk it over with the other mods though.

ALSO, regarding the removal/approval of posts- I'm already seeing some contention with how I handled it yesterday. Someone will make a post, I'll remove it, and they'll ask about it. I'll explain why I removed it, and they'll disagree with my sentiments. I honestly don't feel like it's "right" to remove someone's post when they're just gonna present a solid argument for why it needs to be posted. At the same time though (not to toot my own horn), I think yesterday's frontpage looked pretty good. I'm gonna try to find a middle ground here, where you'll see some basic posts mixed in with some "legitimate" ones. That's the best I can do.

Also keep in mind guys, if your post seems to get deleted right after you post, it's probably not because a mod removed it- it's because the spam filter is a piece of shit and it blocks like every other post. So just message us and we'll fix it.

tl;dr- We're gonna try to fix up the sidebar, and for now I'll be continuing my handling of posts. I'm gonna keep askseddit for now, and once the other mods and I can have a full-blown discussion about it, we'll decide how to deal with it. As far as other subreddits are concerned, I won't make any determination about those- if people want to go to them and contribute, then they should. At the same time though, it'd be great if you can also cross-post here since this is the "main" subreddit. As far as tagging is concerned, we'll have to talk about that. If the mods can't decide, I'm thinking we should have a little "vote" on it. I don't really like the idea of tagging myself, because what if you're in a situation where you're a newb and a "tagged" member gives you some shitty advice?

Anyway, feel free to share your thoughts. My main goal is to appeal to as many people as possible. Ideally, I'd like this subreddit to be enjoyable for everyone, but the main issue I'm seeing is that nobody can really agree on anything.
