"They say they just want to be friends" = they don't find you attractive. If this is a consistent theme, then yeah, you actually do have some changing to do.

Also, if you're consistently blocking chicks because they don't find you sexually appealing, then that too subcommunicates a lot.

You've got to relax and take it all as a joke. Have more fun with it. You say you aren't taking it personal but you're tone says otherwise

You say you don’t take it personally but then admit you block them after getting rejected - that kind of reaction tells me (and the women) that you DO take it personally and have a hard time being told no. I think it’s fine to ignore them if they start playing games but save the blocking for an egregious offense, like ghosting or flaking on dates.

Never become friends with a girl that has rejected you/friendzoned you, it's not healthy for you. If you're the one friendzoning her then sure. Although it might be somewhat of a dick move it's a good way to expand your social circle.

Aaaaanyway. Regarding your main question: No, I don't think you're an asshole for managing your time. You should have some female friends, too. But you can't keep everyone around who wasn't interested in you. Ain't nobody got time for that.
