A few things about Tinder:
It's about as superficial as it gets. Put your best looking/most photogenic pics on there - ones with confident body language, clear face and body shots, and ones that make you look fun and engaging
Also, hate to say it, but race does play a part. As in real life, people are going to have views on race - unlike in real life, however, the internet allows people to very quickly dismiss races. I'm a minority male as well, so I feel you (and it's a big reason I don't bother with online dating) on that one.
That being said, it's an oddly fun if not creepy tool to shoot some shit, get good at formulating witty messages via text, and a good way to get over oneitis too - that girl you thought was smoking hot is just one of many out there.

It also brought up the fact that I had next to no recent good looking photos of me... almost all the photos I'd had in recent years involved me being sloppy drunk
So it oddly helped make me much more conscious about that

I've been using Tinder as well, without many matches as well. From my experiences, (as a minority as well) online dating seems to be saturated with white chicks. And a fair number of them, esp in the south, prefer white dudes. I have met a few who didn't care that I wasnt white, which was nice.

I dont know much about the ethnicity acceptance disparity in Canada. I would suggest taking done extremely flattering photos of yourself, and use those as the first two three Portia on your tinder. Once I rearranged the photos on mine, the number of matches I got increased a tad.

To be honest I've never been very good with women (19, never had GF, still virgin).
LOL - there is no way girls can figure that out from looking at your picture on Tinder. Just put up a really nice picture.

First of all, give it more than a couple weeks. It might not be a race thing. I started using Tinder and for the first few weeks or so I only got 5 or 6 matches. 1 date.
Now Ive had it for 6 months and get a match at least every other day. I dont know why but it just took some time for girls to scan through the profiles and see mine or something.
My advice is just to not take it seriously. You are gonna get a match and she wont respond. You will get matches who will talk to you for a day, exchange numbers, then not respond. You will get matches that will flake. Just dont expect too much and have fun with it.
Nobody wants to say they met their husband/wife on Tinder. So keep that in mind. Its for casual dating.

I've used Tinder for about a month no and my success rate is very low; I would say I'm average looking and have liked about 500, 15 matches, asked 2 on dates and no rejections (both very attractive girls may I add).
Most of the guys on there are insanely attractive but lack even basic social skills and etiquette (E.g. first message will be asking what time they want to come over). So I would recommend trying to find something funny/witty to open with to get a response. After this just find a little out about them. I don't really think there is a need to be witty or funny here, just try to show you're a normal guy. After you've exchanged about 40 messages just ask if they would like to meet for a drink.
I think being 19 could hurt your results a bit. In my area most of the Tinderellas are about 19-23 so probably aren't looking for a 19 y/o.
As for race, I think flynavy makes a fair point although it will largely depend on where you live.
There are plenty of decent threads on seddit about Tinder game etc which I would recommend reading. Good Luck!

If they like you back you can send messages to them.

Tinder is filled with either with trolls or bots. There are people who just mash the like button and troll whoever they get matched with.
