Used to be fat in high school. Have gotten fit and improved my life in all aspects but have actually lost confidence.

When I was fat I was not proud of my appearance but I was confident because I knew I was the funny fat kid. I accepted the role so I was ok with it despite getting bullied and not attracting any girls sexually.

I’m now pretty attractive. Especially since I live in a smaller city with not many attractive guys I’m in the top 10% for sure. Problem is that I have not adapted to my new “role”. Women comment positively on my appearance and yet the comments seem to cause more discomfort than happiness.

It’s like my mind can’t figure out why these women are talking to me. When I talk to girls I like I still feel like I’m in my fat body and it feels so out of place for her to be coming on to me. Anyone overcome this?

Side note: I think seeing the difference in how people react to me based on my different looks showed me how important looks are. This made me place my value in my looks and because of that looks has become something I never feel good enough about and has reduced my confidence.
