I especially like the first rule, to only respond to texts (and for me i only send texts that) are beneficial to escalating the relationship. This means if it doesn't have to do with making plans to see each other again, unless its a "Hey how are you" at the beginning of a conversation or something similar, then I don't respond. I do this in one of two ways: 1) I literally don't write back if I know that its not moving in the direction I want to and know that it won't or 2) change the subject to stay on the topic of setting up a time and place to see each other again.

Simply put, just use texts for logistics (setting up the date, getting/giving directions, agreeing on a time of day that works for both of you, and THATS IT! No need to ask about her day, no need to have playful banter, just stick to the important shit. You are a busy and popular guy(and if you aren't, then you need to start acting like it), so you don't have time to be having drawn out text conversations.

I think you're coming off as too easy and timid.

Let her chase you a bit, you're busy and important - your life doesn't revolve around her (if it does she'll be turned off super fast), nothing wrong with waiting up to a week even. Every other guy at the bar is texting her the next day desperately trying to get a second date, you have to be more interesting than them.

"Hey, it's [me] from last week, how're you doing?"

"Good [...] How are you?"

"I've been really busy [at work or school with a deadline]" - Don't go into a lot of detail, her imagination will paint a much more interesting picture than you ever can :P

Differentiate her from other girls, show her that getting her number was an unexpected surprise.

"You seem pretty cool, I'm generally not interested in girls at the bar."

This makes her feel special, that she could be someone you might be interested in spending more time with. Notice how it's still a question. Then seal the deal by having a plan.

"~~Let's hang out again sometime.~~ My brother bailed on [some cheap event] for next Thursday, want to go?"

Some other notes, if she takes awhile to respond to your first text, don't immediately text her back, wait an hour or so, this shows that in fact you do have a life and are interesting. If she texts you back immediately, then it's ok to respond right away. If she starts texting you mundane details about her day, that's a good thing, but don't flatter it, delay your texts back to her. Don't text her mundane details, unless she asks. Once you've settled on a meetup, never text her first - she'll get antsy and text you the day before or the day of, now she's chasing you.

What kinds of follow-up messages? Are you immediately focusing on logistics like date and time? If so, try staying away from logistics and just focus on what the experience will be like. So you can say, "I know this totally divey Mexican place that has the best tacos. Are you the kind of person who can eat finger food without getting it all over your shirt?"

You can get their number and text them with fine text game, but ultimately the impression you make in person will determine whether or not she goes out with you. Try to build a little more comfort or attraction, at your discretion

I've had girls give me their numbers somewhat enthusiastically only to never "be able" to come out with me.
