There are lots of different types of romantic comedies.

I think the most dangerous ones for a guy to try and imitate are the "woman-porn" movies in the Jane Austen tradition where the woman spend the film just going about her business while multiple men vie for her affection. She is free to be fickle, make grievous errors in judgment and take as long as she needs to make her decisions while the guy(s) politely sit and wait for her to work out all her issues and never demand anything from her. The man that she ends up with is invariably rich and powerful. These are the types that poison guys' minds making them think that the women hold all the cards and that the way to their heart is to be a wealthy/powerful wimp. Pride and Prejudice is the ultimate example of this, but it has been re-done over and over again in stock romantic comedies. Twilight is an epic example. Titanic is an older example.

There are also romantic comedies that show a woman who brings something to the table (intelligence, sexuality, etc.) and a man who -- well -- is more fallible and just more of a man. P.S. I Love You, Wedding Crashers, Knocked Up, The Holiday, etc.

The Notebook kind of straddles these two types, and even though it does involve a fickle woman who has two guys chasing after her who demand nothing in return for their affections, men can learn a lot about seduction from The Notebook. Noah uses bold moves, the written word, patience and romance to great effect throughout the movie. Also, when he isn't getting any from the woman he loves, he goes ahead and gets his rocks off with another woman which is a very important detail. He isn't asexual like a lot of rom-com dreamboats, he has needs. He's a more authentic type of man.

Also, the poor guy wins, which is a different type of ending.

Vince Vaughn in Swingers is a better movie and character to model than romantic comedy BS!

Not quite sure what you're asking. Are you referring to movies like Crazy Stupid Love where Ryan Gosling character acts like a jerk, using PUA tactics on the girl, yet stills ends up dating her? But the thing girls found appealing about that was he was a "reformed" PUA/bad boy. He still retained that PUA charm but he decided to end his shallow empty PUA lifestyle. And even from the start, the audience saw that he had a sweet personality underneath the bravado, girls like to think their guy is a good guy even if he puts on a bit of a front.

But movies are just movies... although I guess people use them to shape their expectations and social norms, for better or worse.
