I’m generally clear about my intentions.

But recently, I asked a girl I’ve known for about a month through an activity to go for a drink. At first, she hesitated, saying she had a busy week and so on… then she accepted after that!

We had the drink, and the conversation was good. I asked later her for a second one, and she said: "I’ve been seeing someone (for a while), but I’m open to friendship"

I said okay… and ghosted her. That wasn’t my goal!

My question is: For me, asking a girl for a drink is clearly meant as a date. Is there a better or more precise way to express that?

Because to me, it feels a bit weird to directly say: "Hey, would you like to go on a date?"
