Last week, I decided to ask out this cute lady creature who I met about two months ago. I'm a server, and she comes into my work often, and lately we've started talking more and more. I make jokes and ask her questions about her life and her recent vacation. The first few times I was kind of giddy, but lately I've been more selective with giving her my attention and a lot more calm and confident around her.

She's some expressed some signs of interest. She follows me on social media and likes my shit. She goes out of her way to say bye to me, she maintains eye contact, and when she says my name, she flashes this big dumb adorable smile.

I recently quit serving at this restaurant and I didn't know when I would see her next, so I went out on a limb and messaged her on instagram. I made a joke about an earlier interaction, I told her I wanted to take her out for coffee, and I told her I wanted to do it this weekend.

She said she wouldn't be able to those days. Based on her lack of communication since I asked, I can tell she just wasn't feeling it.

This type of scenario has happened to me a few times lately and I would to hear love any advice why. I've always thought that once you start seeing indicators of interest and the relationship starts becoming closer, you make your move and ask them out. But I've done this three or four times in the last few months and been told no every time.

I definitely wanted to make clear what I was looking for, but maybe my friendly casual aloof demeanor at work didn't line up with the guy showing assertive romantic interest in her DMs? Or maybe this is just a pretty standard example of rejection, and I should just move on and stop trying to analyze?
