TLDR : Is being a confident alpha really giving better results than just being an cool nice guy?

So i am freshly back in the seduction world, and i started reading most of the books and texts that i found useful some years ago when i was single.

Many of them said things like: Be an alpha, Let her do most of the talking, Don't talk much, Be an asshole sometimes, Always end the conversation, Take your time to text back, Go away for a while to make her miss you, Neg her, Shit test her from time to time, When talking to other girls don't give her attention, be mysterious.

While many of these things seem harsh, they really helped me win the attention of girls. However,

I found out that i got much further with the girls that i did not want, and thus, did not ignore or neg, than with the girls that i really wanted and negged, shit tested, took my time to answer.

Ok, most of the girls that i wanted were much prettier than the ones that i did not, but still, i think that i got then attracted to me, but i lost them because i was playing to hard to get, playing too many games, didn't give them enough attetion, and they could find another guy who would give them these things.

I also don't find that being cock & funny is as helpful as it was. Asking for numbers is also way harder than just giving them my number, they usually text me back when i give it, but they rarely give me when i ask.

Basically i am saying that i think i am negging too hard, nevertheless i am finding that just being nice, and not too needy, is working much better for me, and i want your guys opinion has being "alpha" really given you better results?

FYI i would consider myself somewhere between an 6,5 and a 7,5 and usually hangout with 5's and 8's, but have not have much luck with the 8's hahahaha.
