I'm following Mark Manson's advice on how to get into the habit of approaching women. I started this week by walking around my local Target and asking random women for the time. Once I feel confident enough doing that, I'm supposed to increase the difficulty and ask how their day is going after getting the time.

Having a stranger walk up to you and start a conversation seems strange and foreign to me, as someone who has never done this and very rarely had this happen to me. However, if an attractive girl did this to me, I imagine I would engage them in conversation.

I want to ask the more experienced guys here, is it really that simple? People don't mind just chatting up a random guy when they're shopping or whatever, assuming they're not in a hurry? Or is it easier to comment on something that's in context of what they're doing, and start a conversation that way? I've done the latter before, but usually only when I had a genuine question to ask.

I'll also mention that I have been making an effort of just chatting up everyone I interact with during the day. I'm already seeing improvement and have less social anxiety in general.
