As most puas know, breaking rapport is vital in catching the attention of the opposite sex. Whether it is by vocal tonality or by actions that don't conform to the expected beta norm. On the flip side, I think it can be argued that overindulgence of breaking rapport can result in looking standoffish, like an asshole, or even socially inept. In talking with women, there MUST be a certain level of rapport building in order to get her to trust you quickly, which is ultimately the end goal of an interaction with a woman we deem sexually attractive (especially if we consider the old school Mystery Model trust+comfort=rapport). If they don't trust you, at some level, they won't give you their number, go home with you, or even humor you in conversation for very long.

With that being said, too much building of rapport will, at best, result in a pleasant conversation, and, at worst, result in being thrown into the fiery depths of "THE FRIEND ZONE". So playing too much into each extreme is a bad thing indefinitely.

I completely understand both ends of the spectrum, and honestly I am confident in my ability to walk the narrow line, but I am curious as to how this hasn't, to my knowledge, been directly addressed. If you search "building vs. breaking rapport" you will find videos with the teachings of building rapport or breaking it, and none discussing the balance. And I think as far as conversational fluency this is an important concept to understand and master. Think of the people you know that converse the best, or rather hold attention in a group or one on one situation. They build rapport and break it simultaneously with their speech patterns. I just find it odd that there is so much information out there on building rapport to develop good interpersonal connections, networking opportunities, and developing a certain amount of likability in ones self. And just as much information on breaking those norms and by doing so catching the attention of girls and develop "alpha" tendencies. But no one video detailing the importance of incorporating both, or at least advertising itself as such.

What do you think about this? Is this something that you would want to hear/discuss more about? Is this just NLP tactics? Am I a mad man? What do you guys think?
