Today was my first day of community college and it kinda tore me up internally. Over the past few weeks I've been working on making me a better me, because they say if you won't date yourself then you shouldn't date others. Well I was expecting to go into school today and have a lot of opportunities to meet people (Not just girls, but making new friends as well). I've started a couple new hobbies as well as redoing my wardrobe, and I plan to start working out this week or next week (Depends on when my friend from grade school who is gonna be my lifting buddy can start). I was feeling confident and more alpha then ever. But when I got there, it seemed like the majority of the people were already in preformed groups and that threw me off, as I have no idea how to approach a random group of strangers and fit in. This probably goes back to my experiences in high school (I was like king beta), but every time I would try to talk to/interact with a group I would be shut out. The other thing is that all of the people who were sitting by themselves who I would consider approaching all had headphones on, and again, I had no idea what to do.

Throughout the day the one thing that I made sure to do was maintain good body language and exhibit good posture. I was always relaxed, no crossed legs/arms, never held things in front of my chest, head held high, legs shoulder length apart etc. The thing was was when I was sitting in the coffee shop I would practice maintaining eye contact on a few passing females, and after a second or two they would look away looking disgusted. Based on what I've read I should be maintaining strong eye contact and not being the first to break, but its a little demoralizing not seeing anyone smile or give a positive reaction when I initiate eye contact. Looking at my results and the results I've seen on this sub, I must be doing something wrong and would appreciate feedback in this area.

Any tips you have on approaching people in a community college setting (especially opening advice) and how not only to connect with females but how to build friends as well I would appreciate hearing them.
