So last Friday I decide to go out alone, none of my close group of friends likes to go out so this is pretty much going to be the trend for me. This is my first time being out in a while, and I've only made a handful of approaches in my life so I literally have no idea what to say to people. I pretty much only said "how are you guys doing tonight?" and introduced myself.

I drive down to a populated bar area near a university. When I first get there I'm nervous as shit and a little pissed that I'm out alone. I'm dressed well (flanel/jeans) but I brought this giant sombrero with me (drunk people love it) just in case I wasn't feeling the vibe. So I throw it on first thing cause I feel like shit and start walking down the street with a smile on. First guy to approach me works for one of the clubs and offers to let me in for free.

I go into the club and first walk up to the bar and stand between a two set (HB7 and 8) and a married couple. The woman in the married couple flips her shit when she sees the hat and asks to wear it so I give it to her and we're laughing and her husband is high fiving me. I get the hat back and I turn over to the two set and yell "how are you guys tonight?" the HB7 smiles and starts grinding on me to the music so I start dancing back and after a few seconds she moves off, I ask for their names and the HB8 says her name, have no idea what she said cause I can't hear her. Then I roll off and start talking to some older guy.

I leave the bar area, go to the other bar area and notice a group of bigger girls staring me down smiling cause of the hat so I go over, ask them how they are, they get a picture with the hat etc. I leave, approach some girls at the bar, then I go to the dance floor and start dancing. A HB6 comes up to me and we're dancing next to each other, she's trying to talk to me "blah blah I'm the DD tonight" "these are my friends" and I'm having no idea what to say but "..cool!" just dancing being silly. I notice the HB7 and 8 from before are standing to the side of the dance floor by themselves just watching, I should have tried to flag them over or something.

So anyways, I leave that club and put the hat back in my car. After that the night steadily lost energy for me. Went to a different club, approached about five sets, nothing special. Then I left, went to a different club, wasn't feeling too energetic anymore but trying to say Hi to everyone I can, but after that I just went home. I was out for a total of about an hour and a half.

I think once I warm up after a few minutes, approach anxiety isn't a huge issue for me, but I've never really been good at having conversations in general, let alone with strangers.
