Compliment her behavior not her appearance especially if she has some really great feature. For example, if she has beautiful eyes, she's heard that cheesey shit a thousand times. Stand out and be different by complimenting something other than her looks. You can't go wrong with "You have a really good energy about you".

I've always heard to compliment something she has done. Don't say she is beautiful. Say the way she styled her hair is beautiful. Or that you like her outfit. Make them specific and you avoid all the problems of sounding like they aren't meaningful or that you're after something or that you're just a chump telling everyone they're pretty.

A lot of people have said that you shouldn't compliment on physical features. I, partially, disagree. Compliment her on what sticks out to you. Saying something generic (you are beautiful, amazing eyes etc.) is something she has heard loads of times.

How to compliment is a different ball game, depending on on the person doing so. I like to keep smooth type profile when seducing, so my compliments are delivered through clever innuendos and such. I hardly ever compliment flat out, it would break up the flow of my speech and such, if that makes sense.

As far as eye contact, if you look away, don't look down. I'd only say look away if there is something else to do in a room. For instance, saying the compliment, giving a coy look, and going over to talk to some friends.

In the end, it really isn't a big deal how you do it (this is very important to understand,) don't do it to often (even more important,) and be confident in what you do.
