When she's showing compliance a compliment is fine.

But, the type of compliment, I think, is worth thinking about. Saying a girl is pretty is pretty much never the right path for a girl you haven't slept with. But, saying, "I really like your style." or "You look good in those boots." is complimenting something she chose rather than something she is. I think there's a subtle difference in how it is interpreted and the buttons it pushes. She feels good, but it probably doesn't trigger the same defensive response that the typical comments would. A pretty girl has heard, "You're very pretty" from hundreds or thousands of people; she has an ingrained response to it. You never want the girl going into the "guy hitting on me" auto-pilot mode.

This is like a general life thing. Compliments that aren't ass-kissing are ones that say, "we both understand something, but it's no big deal."

Like when you go to a job interview, you say, "I understand the challenges of dealing with a very successful company like this," because you want to demonstrate your value, they already know theirs and don't need to be told.

When you talk to a pretty girl, she already knows she's pretty. Say something specific and casual, about her clothes or her manner. Show her that you're watching and admiring without making a big thing about it.

Never compliment on her physical appearance. But rather her personalities, her lifestyles. The more details the compliments the better.

For me, I gave out max 1 compliment to a girl per interaction. And I made it count and memorable because if the girl you are trying to get is anything close to pretty, she will hear compliment like "You are so pretty" her entire life.

Compliment her in the way that stands out, that no one ever compliments her in that way.

You don't compliment a girl when she's fishing for validation. And you never ever compliment a girl about her looks, that's an AFC move.

You compliment her when she's trying to qualify herself to you. And then you follow it with a mild IOD. That's the "bait hook reel release" method.

I very rarely compliment girls. When I do, it's either something about an unusual piece of clothing/jewelry that I genuinely like, or a response to a story where she did something really cool.
