Divorce brother. I don't understand your logic that your kids "will grow up without your presence". This makes zero sense.

You can divorce and live together if you want. There are many solutions that would be better for the kids.

You know what's bad for the kids? Being around bickering and fighting. And also seeing their dad cheat on their mom. That is damaging.

Divorce isn't bad for the kids: provided you're not fighting and you're being respectful towards each other and handling things gracefully. There are many ways to organize co-parenting. There are no rules as long as you find a way to make things work.

Alternatively, ask to open up the marriage. It's lying and cheating that is wrong.

Life is too short to live in misery. As a child of parents who took forever to get divorced, I can tell you staying together and serving a broken relationship as a role model to your kids will be much more damaging to them long term.

Don't feel bad about the once a month part at all! Even in super-happy-land, the logistics are similar. I have an amazing young & gorgeous wife (20 yrs younger) with great personality, we love each other and our 3 little monkeys and we are very happy. We are both at home most of the time, so in theory we should have lots of play-time, but in reality by the time kids sleep, most of the time we are just tired :) if I press for it she won't say no, but I know dealing with 3 little ones all day is exhausting.

Sounds like the daily grind has gotten to both of you, and you have thoughts of giving up, hmm, I don't know. When it's worth it, I am a stubborn sob and don't give up. If she was once amazing and you were super happy, you have to figure out the way back to that happiness land. You are the man, it's your job to lead back to that place. Whatever it takes! My fav quote (Thomas Edison): "When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this: You haven't."

My relationship with wife is bad, cold & full with arguments and fights.

Next time be smart and listen to her... there is no need to argue with her because after such an episode it is clear that she has no desire for sex and stuff. After having two children, some women change their mindset some of them are fighting with mild depression; they need support, not arguments and fights. Forget your ego and listen to her because arguing is not a solution, so change the plan.

I’m M35, married with 2 kids (8 &5),

can’t go for a divorce currently cause I love the kids and I don’t want them to grow up without my presence.

Like at worst you will see them 2 week per month. You seem like a stable dude.

Get the divorce. My parents got divorced when I was 8. Just explain to the kids that Mommy and Daddy can’t keep living like this.

And be good parents separately.

And explain it to your wife - we might not like each other anymore but the kids are top priority .
