I've been practicing day game recently but I am very much a novice in the field. At the same time I have had female interest in my life from my early teenage years, so I wouldn't say I'm shy to understanding female behavior.

So far I've done around 15 cold approaches on targets I've been interested in. This, I know, is hardly any, but I have a concern at this time. What I'm struggling with is keeping the girl engaged. I've had more success here and there but in the background there's always the thought in the girls mind that there is something daunting about speaking to some nefarious stranger. I've used statements of empathy but it doesn't make a huge difference. My approach has been relatively polite and nonthreatening, walking ahead to allow them to see me before turning and stopping. An example "Hey, I know this is really random, but I thought you looked nice and I wanted to introduce myself."

Does anyone feel that this hurdle is something that can be overcome or is it just part of the numbers game? I'm sure there's loads of videos around but thought I would put it through here for some guidance.
