Find a career you love, love yourself, love the people you're around, enjoy your life. Those tend to help. It's a lot more about personal development than just picking up girls.
Now approaching girls a ton and getting used to it does help if you've got the proper mental coping skills. For some people getting rejected just wears them down. You need a solid base to be able to deal with the rejections. Being able to apply certain Acceptance and Commitment Therapy principles to yourself might also help you with that.
Besides that do stuff in life that scares you, sing in public transit, lie down in the middle of the streeet, start beatboxing for a group of strangers, go to a party where you aren't invited, and more. Find stuff that stretches your comfort zone in a way that you're challenging yourself without stressing out. Do that alot and the stuff that used to scare you doesn't scare you anymore. This ofcourse takes time and effort.

I think it comes from continuously putting yourself in situations of stress and knowing to your core that whatever happens, you will be okay.

Not the phony kind that quickly disappears when shit gets tough
Honestly in the beginning most of us are cosplaying a more confident version of ourselves. You have to learn somewhere.
You only really develop true confidence after fucking up alot, adjusting and racking up wins.
So how do you develop a confidence that remains intact even after all this?
Surviving. You dust yourself, figure out what you could of done better and go talk to the next girl. Overtime you thicken your skin and just don't really care anymore if a girl says fuck you or blows you off.
The problem most guys have is they either don't bother trying out of fear or they lose once and don't get back up and try again.
The guys that succeed at this game are the ones that got back up and got better.

Many PUA's chanted " Fake it before you make it" to their legions of afc's. I too was in this group and took it as gospel. Then something happened and I realized that's actually won't help you at all.
You want unshakeable confidence? Become an expert in a topic ( preferably a topic that is something you can discuss to any man or woman you meet on the street) . Getting a degree or better yet a masters degree in that topic is the next step. So not only are you an expert but you have an impressive resume to validate your expertise.
Now when you discuss this topic to a novice you are speaking from an expert's point of view, every doubt they have you counter easily because again you are an expert in this field. This is what genuine and unshakeable confidence looks and feels like and it is way more powerful than anything you can fake.
When i started to talk to women about my expertise it is an instant panty dropper, almost to the point where i was evoking these emotions from women who i was genuinely interested in helping and it would cause problems.
Find your passion, because an expert in it. Devote resources and time to it and then share it with the world every chance you get.
