I've seen so many "woe is me" posts in the last few days claiming if you arent a Roman statue you have no chance...
Those posts violate Rule 7. The response should be to report those posts. Not debate them.
Please see the pinned post at the top of the subreddit on the updated rules. This debate was tired YEARS ago.
This isn't the place for more "looks matter/looks don't matter" debate posts.

At the very least, putting yourself out there and approaching will teach you useful people skills that will help in the long-run. Work on maximizing your attractiveness, but simultaneously get out there and approach. I'm currently 5'9" 260 lbs after having a really awful 3-year run where I neglected my physical and mental health (the isolation of the pandemic hit me really hard, right after I had a post-college identity crissis, and honestly I'm just happy to be alive). I'm working towards rectifying the situation (CICO, lots of walking, seeking therapy, etc), but that isn't stopping me from doing the occasional approach, even though I know the success rate will be row. Approaching is fun as hell in an of itself, regardless of results. Building that confidence to go up to a random girl, give her a compliment, then have a nice conversation looking dead in her eyes is amazing. If you both approach and work on making yourself more attractive, by the time you're more attractive, you'll definitely start getting consistent results.

Yeah the "woe is me" comments need to go. If you think you're unattractive then go see a therapist if it's really causing that much of an issue in your head. Bitching on the sub that's all about building self confidence and bettering yourself overall is counterproductive and just unnecessary. There's plenty of things you can do to make yourself more physically attractive. The people complaining just don't want to do those things. Or they complain about things that cannot be changed (genetics). Or both. Either way you need to get off the internet and start solving problems that you can do something about

You mean the gym/dermatologist/dentist? Those can actually fix your looks, not a therapist

I thought it was about how to approach girls?

Agreed

Hitting the gym once is not going to fix your problems overnight. And for some it could take a really long time. Ideally everyone would choose to delay all gratification to meet their goals, but people still struggle. Therapy/counseling would be beneficial to a lot of men on this sub

I know, but isn't this the same thing therapy wise though? I'm assuming people have to attend these sessions for months until they can "suppress" those feelings.
