Keep In mind that people in restauration business are paid to smile and be nice,

and get quite a lot of customers acting lewd or creepy to them. They have to bear with it and can not change workplace for every comment they get. They can't really make a scene or react too negatively. Their job is on the line.

Whatever you do, be considerate, discrete and mindful, this is a person at their workplace, and their work can be quite stressful at times.

Also, don't confuse their politeness with reciprocated attraction/validation to your move, this is a common source of confusion.

Leaving a note is discrete, and gives them the choice to call you back or to stop it there without you pushing too much into it.

Also consider how much valuable the place is to you, as it might get awkward after you get rejected.

I once put my name and number on a small piece of paper, folded it up, put it in my hand and "shook hands" with the waitress on the way out.

“Wanna grab coffee/drinks sometime next week” if she says yea on the back of the check draw “_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _” and ask her to fill it out for you. She can be nice because of serving you, just don’t take that for granted.

“I know this is random but I see you here all the time and I think you are really cute” ask if she likes coffee or whatever you want to take her to do. Then say another time let’s grab a coffee together, I know the best place. Add in some small talk about her if you have enough time. Or just write your number on the receipt haha
