Don’t pick them up, let them pick you up. The twist - they don’t do it overtly. Learn the signals - the glances, hair flips, etc. Women like to choose you but coyly. They invite you to hit on them. If you’re just trying to pick up everything you see without those signals, you’re potentially wasting a lot of time and effort on women who may just not be available for that.

Time constraint. "Hi, I really like your vibe and wanted to meet you, I'm on my way to meet a friend for coffee I can only talk for a minute"

I talk to women in public all the time and they are never freaked out. You are doing something wrong I guarantee it.
