My usual opener is something like "hey you're cute, I wanted to come say hi" - something along those lines.

The first girl was coming out of a bookstore and I noticed she was in and out for a little while as I waited for my buddy to come out. I chatted her up for a solid minute as she was walking and we talked books for a bit - but then I make my intent clear and that was that I thought she was cute and wanted to know about her. She was very friendly but said she had a fiancee - and my response was something like "well he's a lucky guy, have a good night !

Girl 2 :

I went with some buddies to a brewery that makes their own beer/food. I see a chick alone on her phone so I kinda just continue on with my friends. 20 minutes later I noticed she's still at the bar on her phone so I approach her and right off the bat say hi and ask her for her name. she tells me, and I said I noticed she's heading off. She says she just got off work and I asked her how long she's been working at this restaurant/bar. She replies. So I make my intention clear ( with confidence like the earlier approach) and tell her I think she's cute and that's why I came over to say hello. She's nice about it and tells me she has a bf. I'm like "OK, cool! Have a safe ride home " or something along those lines.

So I need some input. Is there anything wrong with my approach ? And should i treat the bf/fiance response as a shit-test? I usually move on if they mention a bf since its a good way to weed out those who aren't interest.
